Lenny Carlino Complete’s his Eagle Scout Project at Angela’s House

    The Memorial Garden
Lenny Carlino’s Eagle Scout Project is complete

    The Carlino Family
It was 19 years ago the Policastro family met the Carlino family at North Shore Hospital NICU. Both families had medically frail daughters ( Angela Policastro and Elizabeth Carlino). These brave girls fought with courage. Both families supported each other as they lost their children. This type of family support was the beginning of what now is ATDC and Angela’s House. Lenny Carlino Jr. was driven to make this memorial garden to honor the children that have passed. His memorial garden is an honor to his sister Elizabeth.

    Forest Brook kids give back

Seventeen fifth grade boys give back to their community at Forest Brook Elementary School.
As I walked into the Forest Brook Elementary School as a substitute one day, I got a great feeling of warmth and respect from all the teachers and students. On my lunch break I went into the cafeteria and overheard some boys talking about the money they collected from spare change well over $100.00. I asked what they were doing with the money and they said, they were savings all their left over change from lunch and putting it into a bag and giving it to a charity at the end of the year. Their charity is Angela’s House. These boys are 10-11 years old and in 5th grade. I thought something as wonderful as this task, should not go unrecognized. Dr. Michael, the school principal, teaches the children at Forest Brook respect, responsibility and citizenship on a daily basis. It really shows!
We are all proud of the children at the Forest Brook School.
    The fifth graders that participated are: Richard C, Joe S, Joey S, Anthony T, Michael S, Michael C, Michael B, Luke F, Ricky P, Marcus B, Dan M, Alex B, P.J. C, Tyler S, Kyle K, Nick S and Nick C.

    Angela’s House Golf Outing

Our June 2, 2008 golf outing at St. George’s Golf & Country Club was very successful. We had perfect weather for a great day of golf. It was sunny with a nice comfortable breeze.

As the golfers checked in, each received several gifts including a Nike-style golf shirt with the Angela’s House logo on it. Our guests then helped themselves to a breakfast and some practice on the putting green and driving range. The clubhouse overlooked the beautiful golf course making everyone ready to go. We had a shotgun start at 12:30 pm with close to 120 golfers. The golfers were later treated to a BBQ lunch at the halfway house. Read More

    2007 Annual Report

Mission: To identify families caring for their children who may have a severe disability or medical condition so that we may help them obtain supportive services to improve the quality of life for the children and their family

    Annual Report 2007

We had another successful year with our mission of identifying new children in our community and helping them obtain the extensive array of service needed to support them. The highlights and projects we are working on include:

    – We helped 168 children in the Care at Home Program. This program allows our nurses to visit each child’s home in the community and offer assistance and support for the family caring for their child at home. Medicaid rate for care at home increased in the 4th quarter. This allows us to fully fund our nurse case managers that visit families.
    – We helped 172 children with our Family Support Service Program. This program helps with service coordination, respite and reimbursement for items that cannot be paid for by other resources. Donations are used to fund equipment and to make homes more accessible. We were approved mid year for more grant money to help more families
    – We offer financial support to our two Angela’s House through grants and fund raised money to purchase equipment and items that cannot be funded through other means.
    – Plans continue with Angela’s House III in Stony Brook. Plans continue with other future development including a respite home for medically frail children in Hauppauge. This respite home will offer short term stays
