Smithtown Messenger: Hauppauge Helping Hands Funding Donations

    Dear Bob:

The Hauppauge Helping Hands (HHH), designed as a Hauppauge Soccer Tournament, was started to raise funds to be used for Hauppauge residents in need of help, primarily due to serious medical or other family difficulties. We have helped our Hauppauge neighbors since the first HHH Soccer Tournament was held in October 1982, with initial donations going to the Harry Harstell Fund. With closing of the HHH, the fund has now donated almost $250,000 for its intended charitable purposes. Read More

The Hauppauge HHH and Soccer club lend a helping hand to ATDC / Angela’s House

The Hauppauge Helping Hands ( HHH) Co- Chairman Larry Turf and Terry Moore presented a check to Bob Policastro from ATDC / Angela’s House. Mr Turf was the founding Coordinator of the HHH Soccer Tournament established in 1982 to assist a family in need due to medical problems. He said it was a pleasure to see the kids playing soccer to help someone in need. The HHH Committee recently decided to dissolve its fund but wanted to see there funds and mission continue with helping children and families in the Hauppauge/ Smithtown communities. They understood and realized the mission of ATDC / Angela’s House aligned with the goals of HHH.
Bob Policastro expressed to the committee that it would be an honor to keep the legacy of the HHH alive by using the funds to lend a helping help to the local families and children in need.
Many thanks to the Hauppauge Soccer Club and the other HHH committee members including Carol and Many Bartolotta, Pete Crociata, Ken Granville, Frank Migliari and Joe Simonelli.

ATDC / Angela’s House is part of Christmasville this year

    The story behind Christmasville

Welcome to Christmasville in Farmingville. We’re the Buckley’s (Dan, Debi, Chris, Steph & Danielle). We’ve been decorating for nine years and going on ten. It all started back at apartment in Queens with lights around the living room and the kitchen windows and the the railing on the stoop. Seven years ago we moved into Farmingville and new house means new decor. Every year, we buy new decorations and thanks to our designated shed, we have more room for decorations. We usually start decorating by November 1st, everyday of the week and weekend to have it all ready for the Thanksgiving weekend. This is our first year sponsoring a charity : Angela’s House. Our son Chris is responsible for all of this. He has been decorating for all of the ten years since he was seven. He comes up with all of the designs and planning for all the decorations. He says “Seeing a kid’s face light up from excitement and joy is a feeling like no other.” Having his little sister as his helper, she gives him the thumbs up for a new decoration. We have the lights up from the Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 24) till the end of New Years Week (Jan. 5). The lights are on between 5-11pm, and Chris will be outside collecting donations during the first week of December. Our favorite decoration of 2007 is the gingerbread house drive-thru. It took all of October and some of November to complete it. Our neighbors think we’re insane but love that we do all this. Chris is inspired by all the Christmas decorators out there, we know what its like to go Christmas house hunting and we love to look at everybody’s ideas and setup of all the decorations. Chris takes some of their ideas and makes them his own. He gets so much enjoyment out of it and his goal is “making everyone happy”. We hope you’ll come and drive by and take a look and drop off a donation in our donation box. Happy Holidays!
